Festival underway · Free Paint Jam 10am–4pm, Lyceum Square · Sat 31 Oct & Sun 1 Nov

Watch a wall take shape. Follow the colour across the town centre. For one week, the act of making is part of the street — with murals intended to carry the story beyond the festival.

Six artists, a week of painting and a town centre to see differently. The final Saturday and Sunday bring a free Paint Jam Weekend to Lyceum Square, with murals intended to remain beyond the festival.

An owl painted on a turquoise freestanding panel in Lyceum Square, with a painter working beside it.
Large gable-end mural on a dark wall: a bird of prey formed from cream lilies and roses, with a small owl among golden leaves at its base.Work in progress: a large photorealistic portrait of a man in a cap carrying a long wooden beam, painted across a rust-red brick wall behind safety barriers. A ladder stands at the wall.Painted utility cabinet: two illustrated women in uniform carry a large parcel past a railway carriage. A parcel label reads 'The Hammo'.Painted utility cabinet: two illustrated track workers in hard hats and orange hi-vis carry a shovel and a tool over pink and amber landscape.Painted utility cabinet: an illustrated engineer in maroon overalls carries a sledgehammer on his shoulder, with pink and yellow industrial shapes behind.Painted utility cabinet: a smiling station worker in a waistcoat stands beside a grinning postal worker in blue, against bright orange tracks.

Visiting

Make a day of it

Make a day of looking. Let Crewe’s street art sit alongside the rest of your visit, with time to pause rather than rush from one stop to the next. Check the map’s painting areas and each work’s location and access details before setting out.

Beyond the week

After the festival

The painting week ends; the invitation to look again need not. The murals are intended to remain, giving you a reason to return and notice something different. Check each work’s location and access details before you go.

Keep looking beyond the festival. Crewe already has a wider public art trail, with its own stories woven through the town. Not every piece belongs to CreweColours — part of the pleasure is discovering those different layers.
